Make Your Morning Count

Have you ever gotten up from bed, walked over to the computer, played around on Facebook, and then check your email only to realize you wasted several hours? How productive was that specific day as a whole? Did you work out? Were you able to focus on your health and fitness goals? The answer is probably no because your morning routine sets the standard for the rest of your day.

The best thing you can do to make your mornings count is to focus on habit stacking. This is where you create one habit and build from it using one activity to trigger the next. For example, making your bed as soon as you wake up, followed by a 30-minute workout session with a healthy breakfast and so on. First you need to determine what routines or habits you would like to set in place for your mornings. Here are a few of the best morning routines you can incorporate into your life to reach your health and fitness goals.

1. As soon as you wake up each morning spend a few minutes stretching. Stand next to your bed and simply begin a series of light stretches. You should make sure that you cover all of your major muscle groups and allow them to stretch fully while practicing deep breathing. Studies have shown that people who stretch each morning are more likely to exercise throughout the day and are more productive overall.

2. Consuming a glass of warm water with a half of a lemon squeezed into it is also beneficial when added to your morning routine. This can replace your normal cup of coffee and will boost energy and weight loss, without giving you the jitters, according to

3. Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you throughout the day. ( What this really means is if you do the thing you dread the most first thing in the morning, such as working out, it will be over with and you will not spend the rest of your day potentially dreading it.

4. Make sure you eat a healthy breakfast consisting of natural foods after you have exercised. According to a breakfast consisting of processed foods leads to less energy later in the day and binge snacking along with other poor food choices.

Creating a morning routine that will help you reach your health and fitness goals is very simple. Sit down and create a list of the things you want to do each morning, keep that list with you until these activities become habits and you will be on your way to a healthier happier life.
